@ajrandomeats HonApple Ham Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Ham: Boneless or bone-in
  • Cloves: Whole, inserted every 2-3 square inches
  • Honey: 4-8 oz
  • Pineapple: 2 cups chunks (fresh, frozen, or canned)
  • Pineapple: 1 can in syrup (if not in syrup, add brown sugar to make own syrup)
  • Brown Sugar: 1 cup
  • Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg: 1 pinch or tablespoon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ham:
    • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
    • Place the ham in a roasting pan.
    • Insert whole cloves into the ham every 2-3 square inches.
  2. Prepare the Pineapple Glaze:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine the pineapple chunks, the syrup from the canned pineapple, honey, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
    • If using fresh or frozen pineapple without syrup, add 1/2 cup of water and additional brown sugar to make your own syrup.
    • Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved and the glaze thickens slightly.
  3. Apply the Glaze:
    • Pour half of the pineapple glaze over the ham, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  4. Bake the Ham:
    • Place the ham in the preheated oven.
    • Halfway through the cooking time, carefully remove the ham from the oven and use a sharp knife to make additional cuts all around the ham, allowing the glaze to penetrate deeper.
    • Baste the ham with the remaining glaze every 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Finish the Ham:
    • Continue baking until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C) and is nicely caramelized, typically about 1.5 to 2 hours for a pre-cooked ham (or follow package instructions if different).
    • For a richer glaze, baste with the pineapple syrup each time.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
    • Serve the ham slices with extra pineapple chunks and glaze from the pan.

Enjoy your delicious and sweet HonApple Ham, perfect for any festive gathering or special meal!
